No Bueno

Well, this week's weigh in was a bust. I didn't lost anything. But I knew that would be the case, because my whole body felt weighed down, like I was full of fluid. So I can only think the numbers on the scale weren't accurate. I don't know why I felt so bloated all weekend? We've been eating a lot of bagels - maybe that's it. I tried to drink my water this week, and thought I was doing pretty well. All I can do is get back at it tomorrow. That's all you can ever do - keep at it! I was hoping to find something to replace water in the afternoon, something that would still hydrate me, but no luck yet. Water can be hard sometimes... What keeps me going is how far I've come. I realized since I started this journey in 2018, I've lost 2inches off my stomach, and 4 inches off my hips. It might be small, but it's something, and it has stayed off. Small victories, and time to keep at it for more results! I have a goal, and I am determined to...

It's Time to be Awesome

Yesterday I started over (wait, have I said that before?) I watched my calories, and drank my shake for lunch (instead of eating something) and tried to get in my water. It was rough. When you get used to eating foods, and not so healthy foods, it is hard to not eat them. And you crave them. You mistakenly think you need them. And it sucks. And it's hard. But if you want it bad enough, you'll try. And I am. I am trying again today. I will take this one day at a time - no, one meal at a time. We (meaning my husband and I) ordered Fit Boards. Yep, we did. Yes, the ones you saw on Shark Tank. I'll let you know if they work. I got very used to snacking in the morning and the afternoon and the evening. Did you? This quarantine made me lazy. I look at the room and say "I should vacuum/dust" then I don't. And I keep thinking I am not going anywhere this summer, so what am I fighting for? Then I see people on tv like former WWE wre...

I feel like I'm starting over all the time

I've lost track of how many times I have "started over" during this Pandemic. It feels like weekly. Are you feeling this too? Is it as tough for you as it is me? I feel like I've eaten more carbs in the last month than I have in the last year. A healthy lifestyle has to be a new way of living. I used to hang on for the weekends and eat my carbs or chocolate then. I stopped that when the Stay At Home Order started and some food was hard to find. I used it as an excuse. An excuse to eat food I knew I shouldn't. Today I have no motivation for you. If you're motivated please feel free to share - I am all ears. But, I haven't given up. I didn't like the number that I saw on the scale, so I'm working to change it. I am the only one that can change it. Today's goal? Drink my water and careful of the carbs. Snack on fruit - not crackers. And have my shake for lunch. One day at a time.

I'm not going to sugar coat this - This is difficult...

You'd think with as far as I've come with learning how to eat healthy, that staying at home wouldn't be so difficult. I'd love to sit here and say I've been killing it drinking my shakes and avoiding temptation, and getting my steps in...but that would be a lie. How are you doing? Are you finding it challenging to stay motivated? I am. Are you snacking? I am. I'm trying to be honest here. And it's not pretty. Since Easter, I haven't been having my shakes for lunch. Instead, I've been eating leftovers for lunch. And snacking on Easter Candies - mostly things like jelly beans. Damn sugary things are addicting! But, I have been trying to drink my water at least. I don't always make my goal, but I'm trying. It's not easy... And if you are having the same issues, it's okay to admit. I feel like I have lost my stride. During the day I am HUNGRY. I WANT to eat/snack. Today I started my shakes again, and all I felt like as I d...

Stay Positive and Keep Pushing Forward

Yes, my journey to getting healthy is going slower than I had originally planned. My original plan was 50lbs a year for two years. Well, I am in year three now, and I am close to reaching the 40lb mark. See? Slower than I planned. But...that almost 40lbs is gone and hasn't been seen in 3 years. THAT is an accomplishment that I am proud of. Every little bit counts. And it hasn't been easy. I was close to this 40lb goal right before Thanksgiving - the same week my dad had a heart attack. The stress had me not eating at first, but then the anxiety kicked in and I made a few bad food choices. I had good moments and bad moments over the next month. But those bad choices didn't define me, and here I am, back on the threshold of that small milestone. I chose a long term goal (2 years) so the weight is easier to keep off. So I can learn how to allow myself pizza once in a while, or baked potato chips as a treat, and bread!! But learn how to eat those things without overdoin...

We can do this

Christmas week is almost here. For me, this means lots of delicious cookies in my house. And I proved this week that I can't be trusted around cookies right now. (my mother in law sent home some cookies she made and there was one of each cookie for each of us. I blew through my cookies withing a day and a half...no lie) But, I am determined. I wanted to meet my next weight goal by Christmas day, but that doesn't give me much time. So, I'm aiming for New Years Eve. How do I plan to accomplish this over the holiday? Well, it's only 6lbs, first of all. But, I'm going to go with the thought of starting new with each meal/snack, and drinking my water. And, I am going to attempt, er, plan to hit the gym 2-3 times a week during Christmas week and New Years week. Obviously Christmas day will be a free day, but I will do my best to not overdo it (like I usually do. I eat so much that I feel like I'm going to pop) I want to get back at this, and hitting this next 10lb ...

Day One at the gym

Today was Day One at the gym. I am embarrased to day that I joined our local Planet Fitness LAST YEAR with my husband, in the hopes that we would go together. We never did. And I'm managing 5K steps a day just being at home, but I really would like to see 10K per day. So today, I was there. The staff didn't show me around like I thought they would, seeing as I was brand new. So I stuck to the treadmill, just trying to get my steps in. After one hour, it shut off and sent me to a cool down (I didn't reach 10K yet) I then walked around to see what other equipment they had. I see a lot of folks on the elliptical, but I don't like it. I tried it at the YMCA (when it was still open) and it made me nauseous. Then I decided to try the Hydra-Massage, because I have had normal massages by massage therapists, and they are extremely relaxing. The Hyra-Massage table at Planet Fitness was NOT relaxing at all...I thought it was AWFUL. My old chiropractor had a water table (I thin...

We all fall...

I have to admit, I haven't been doing great on the low carb/low sugar eating. Not great at all...lol I gave into a carb craving here and there, and now it's all I want. I will admit, it's hard to cut back on carbs, I love my bread, and potatoes, and pasta... BUT the good news is, I have not gained anything back. Somehow, even though I've been enjoying low salt chips, bagels, and pasta, my weight has stayed the same. Bad news? I haven't lost anything more. What this does tell me, is that I can eat the things I enjoy in MODERATION. I can go enjoy a pizza, or a delicious plate of pasta, or a night out at my favorite resturant, just not all in the same day and not EVERY day, lol. I've still been watching my portions. For instance, if we do go out, I get a sandwich, and I only eat half, and take the rest home. It's a first step. Now, I need to get stronger about being better. QOTD, are there Low carb bagels out there? And are they any good? #AskingForMe

The B-Side of Life

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I need to admit that these last few months have been rough for me. Probably the worst out of the last 14months. This post is what my good friend likes to call the B-Side of my life. I'm not perfect. And as hard as I try to keep up the healthy living, it isn't always easy. But who wants to read about that? And I sure don't want to post about that, lol. But here we are... Christmas threw me off. I ate cookies and potatoes and loved it all. But when the New Year came, I was ready to get back on track. And then that didn't happen. And then my Grandmother's health declined. I was home all day everyday, and we still had cookies and goodies around. And I ate my feelings. (I do much better when the junk food ISN'T in the house. Why? Well, because I am mostly too lazy to go out to the store to buy more, so if it's not here, I won't eat it.) I was stressed and sad, and I snacked. When my Grandmother passed awa...

Friday Weigh In

How's your week going? Friday is always my weigh in day, and the past few months it has been a consistent up and down, but I've been keeping off what I lost so far (even if I gain a few, I drop it again). I still look forward to Friday weigh in like a kid looks forward to Christmas. Is that weird? I like seeing my hard work pay off, and it helps me keep going. But this week I am in the middle of a gentle cleanse, and trying my best to be good. And it's paying off. I hit 35lbs lost this week! It has taken longer than I had hoped, but I am not discouraged. This is a lifestyle change, so it's not like in two years I'm just done...so if it takes three years, or even four to hit my ultimate goal, then that's what it takes. But I refuse to give up. With Easter right around the corner, we'll get enough chocolate from both parents house to let us have a little treat, so my Target basket is already filled with Protein bars, and low cal snack...
